
An outbreak of a highly pathogenic strain of avian influenza H5N1 was detected in a private farm in the north of the country with a population of 19 birds. These data were provided to OIE by the Norwegian authorities.

Over the past few years, this virus has caused significant and irreversible damage to poultry production worldwide. Millions of birds were destroyed, supply chains were disrupted, and prices for poultry products increased significantly . In addition, the risks of virus mutation and the emergence of strains that may pose a threat to humans have increased manifold.
