Naum Babayev: “Changes have ripened in the North Caucasus that allow the implementation of good investment projects”

Entrepreneur, founder of the Russian Dairy Company and the Damate group Naum Babaev spoke about the history of the company and economic tasks at the plenary session “Economic potential of the North Caucasus Federal District. The role of investments in the development of the macro-region" at the First Caucasian Investment Exhibition-2023.

“The Damate company will produce 290,000 tons of turkey MEAT this year. This is the absolute leader in RUSSIA, and we will also become the No. 1 company in Europe and No. 4 in the world in the production of turkey meat. In addition, we are the leader in the production of meat - No. 1 in Russia. In our opinion, lambis a product that has its own consumer, and it absolutely fits into the strategy of our company. However, lamb is an underestimated product that has its own beneficial nutritional properties. The sheep industry itself is very much underestimated.

When we started studying the sheep market in 2017, we traveled half the world and concluded that the sheep is a freedom-loving animal . If we grow it in closed societies, we will not get good results. Of course, for this we need pastures,” said Naum Babayev.

It should be noted that 51% of the lands of the North Caucasian Federal District are pastures, and in some regions, such as Dagestan and Karachay-Cherkessia, 70%. In addition, one cannot ignore the fact that historically the North Caucasus has always been associated with sheep breeding. “In my opinion, a critical mass of changes has matured in the North Caucasus, which allows investors to make good investment projects here,” the entrepreneur emphasized.
