The areas of the disease this year were registered in Europe, Asia and Africa, the usa and CANADA. Within a week, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received alerts about new influenza outbreaks in 21 countries. During the same period, States participating in the activities of this organization reported 143 outbreaks that appeared in them. Chile leads in the number of outbreaks - 42, followed by Belgium (20), the UK and Sweden (11 each). New cases are known in Brazil, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, etc.
Since the beginning of the year, 62 outbreaks have been registered in RUSSIA in 28 regions. Among domestic, ornamental and industrially fattened poultry, however, isolated cases were recorded. The infection dealt the main blow to the natural habitat - 52 cases of infection were announced. Characteristically, almost all occurred in the last two months. This is explained by the fact that, according to veterinarians, an atypical species turned out to be the most susceptible to diseases - gulls, which is why the controllers especially carefully searched for dead representatives of this bird family in the region, but did not find it. The gulls were caught, sending 14 samples for examination to the Chelyabinsk branch of the Federal Center for Animal Health, where they also confirmed their infectious “purity”.
However, the regulator is urging commercial-scale broiler growers and backyard farmers to remain vigilant as seagulls are found almost everywhere and can spread the virus .among domestic stock even in the most remote colonies, thus creating a particular threat. Specialist of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Tatyana Tauzhanova lists the signs of bird disease: refusal of food and water, ruffled plumage, swelling of the HEAD, discoloration of the crest, etc. She advises, at the first suspicions, to contact the local veterinary services to find out the causes and, possibly, localization of the infection. For the Chelyabinsk region, the problem is relevant because of the scale of poultry farming, because the region is one of the leaders in the production of chicken MEAT.
