Pork production increased in the Stavropol Territory

Pork production increased by 3.6% in the Stavropol Territory. Sales of these products increased by 8%. Since the beginning of the year, the number of pigs in agricultural organizations has increased to 280 thousand heads.

These enterprises raise 71.5% of the total number of pigs in the region, according to the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. Another 27.4% of pigs are kept in personal subsidiary plots, 1% - in farms.

At the beginning of this year, there were 385 thousand heads of pigs in the Stavropol Territory.

In 2018 and 2019, the Rossiya SHPK of the Novoaleksandrovsky District, where large white pigs are raised, received a subsidy for livestock breeding in the amount of 4.5 million rubles. The sale of breeding pigs of this agricultural enterprise was carried out not only in the region, but also beyond its borders.

Last year, 7958 piglets were born at the breeding farm, on average - 26.2 piglets per sow.

In the Stavropol Territory, 14 organizations are engaged in pig breeding. All farms received 595.2 thousand piglets last year. The largest pork producers in the region are Gvardiya LLC (67.9% of all pork produced in the region) and SVK LLC. This enterprise breeds 16.6 thousand heads of pigs. Last year, MEAT production reached 2.8 thousand tons.
