Construction of an ostrich farm will soon begin in the north of Sakhalin

In the oil town of Okha in the north of the Sakhalin region, it is planned to create an ostrich farm.

Entrepreneur Oleg Miloslavsky is going to start construction as soon as the snow melts. The future owner of the farm has not yet disclosed the details of the project, but it is already known that ostrich eggs are laid in an incubator outside the region.

World experience shows that ostriches easily adapt to the climate of northern countries. The yield of MEAT from one bird is approximately 30 kilograms (40% of live weight). Each egg weighs about 1.5 kilograms, which is equivalent to 30 chicken eggs.

In modern Europe, ostrich meat is seen as a dietary alternative to beef. Its main advantage is its low cholesterol content: 34 milligrams per 100 grams. From this point of view, it surpasses even rabbit and turkey (40-50 milligrams per 100 grams).

Miloslavsky promises to start deliveries of eggs and poultry meat to local stores in the summer of 2022. Over time, he intends to turn the farm not only into a center for the production of exotic products for the region, but also into an excursion object.
