
Rosselkhoznadzor is ready to cooperate with Mongolia in the field of veterinary medicine and assist in the transition to electronic veterinary certification, Rosselkhoznadzor reports following a meeting with representatives of the Mongolian government on March 2, 2023. The report says that electronic veterinary certificates increase transparency in the trade of livestock products, and this can improve the quality of imports and exports.
Exports of Russian agricultural products to Mongolia can be increased, the ministry said in a statement. So, in 2022, the total volume of trade between the two countries amounted to $2.7 billion - a record for the entire time of cooperation between Russia and Mongolia, the government of Mongolia reported. According to the forecasts of the Mongolian government, by 2026 the volume of trade between the two countries may already reach more than $5 billion.
Russia supplies Mongolia with grain, meat, confectionery, Mongolia is also one of the largest buyers of Russian eggs, according to statistics from the Ministry of Agriculture. Back in 2021, Agroexport predicted a twofold increase in the supply of agricultural products to Mongolia, mainly due to the expansion of exports of grain and poultry products, vegetable oils, as well as food products - confectionery, drinks, ice cream and so on.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Mongolia notes that they are ready to expand the supply of traditional Mongolian livestock products to the territory of Siberia and the Far East, and we are talking about both meat products and livestock supplies. The introduction of electronic veterinary certification will increase the traceability of these products, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, and will help improve the quality of imports and exports.
