“It should be noted that self-sufficiency in vaccines against especially dangerous and quarantine diseases is already one hundred percent. Work is underway to strengthen other areas,” he said.
The minister stressed that veterinary vaccines, as well as advanced methods for diagnosing and preventing plant and animal diseases, which are being developed by institutions subordinate to ROSSELKHOZNADZOR, contribute to the country's import independence. According to him, agricultural producers in the world are suffering quite serious losses, they are associated with the situation with African swine fever ( ASF ) and bird flu. "The account goes to thousands of outbreaks. I will not say, of course, that the situation in RUSSIA is perfect, there are a lot of problems ahead, but nevertheless, if we compare the data, we see that our vector is generally correct," the minister is sure .
In particular, as Patrushev noted, the regulatory framework for veterinary medicine is constantly being improved. So, since 2020, 44 veterinary rules for the fight against infectious animal diseases have been adopted and updated, drugs and diagnostic tools are being supplied to the regions of Russia. The minister explained that in 2022 alone, state support for these purposes exceeded 3.5 billion rubles. "But I would like to emphasize that we should not relax, outbreaks of especially dangerous diseases continue to be recorded here. And, moreover, I will say that the situation is now becoming more complicated given the situation in the border countries of Asia, Europe and the Caucasus in terms of ASF and avian influenza," concluded Patrushev.
