The Ministry of Agriculture has decided: the sausage will have more fat and less protein

The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to amend the “meat” technical regulations so that sausage producers can add more fat and less protein to the product than stated on the label. The media write about it.

“Changes to the technical regulations provide the manufacturer with the opportunity to deviate by 20% from the proportions of protein and fat indicated on the label. For example, if the label indicates 17 g of protein per 100 g of product, in fact it may contain 13.6 g, and instead of the declared 18 g per 100 g of product, there may be 21.7 g per 100 g of sausage, ”says the message.

The current regulation was adopted in 2013. At that time, these norms were strict, but it is almost impossible to achieve their observance in practice.

Anastasia Semenova, Deputy DIRECTOR for Research at the Gorbatov Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, notes that for RUSSIA, sausage is not just a product, but a kind of indicator of the situation in the economy. So, in any crisis situation, the consumption of sausages and sausages is growing, because people want to eat and save money at the same time.

The expert also added that poultry sausage is much cheaper than beef and pork sausage. But at the same time, the taste of sausages also changes.
