Producer prices for tomatoes are now 3.8% lower than a year ago at the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture compared . They noted that the stable price situation is facilitated by the increase in vegetable production in winter greenhouses: production volume as of February 28 increased by 3.2% compared to last year, including 108.6 thousand tons of cucumbers and 74.8 thousand tons of tomatoes.
The HEAD of the FAS, Maxim Shaskolsky, during a meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, also spoke about a downward trend in prices for chicken eggs , in particular due to the conclusion of price agreements with producers and sellers. Previously, the government adopted a resolution developed by the FAS, which allows regions to quickly take measures to reduce prices and curb trade margins. According to Shaskolsky, at the moment such agreements are in force in 34 regions, where more than 2.2 thousand manufacturers and sellers have accepted price obligations.
He also recalled that in the second half of 2023, due to an increase in prices for poultry MEAT , work was carried out with large producers, which led to a decrease in selling prices. “We also studied the reasons for changes in prices for chicken eggs. A rapid increase in wholesale prices of manufacturers was revealed compared to the increase in costs and profitability in the wholesale segment,” the head of the FAS emphasized. He noted that as a result of the work carried out, 10 cases of violation of antimonopoly legislation were opened in 10 regions of RUSSIA, including cases of concluding anti-competitive agreements and coordination of actions.
According to a review of the current price situation prepared by the Ministry of Economic Development, annual inflation in Russia from February 20 to 26 accelerated to 7.58% from 7.57% a week earlier. During the week from February 20 to February 26, inflation at the level of 0.13% was observed in the consumer market. In the food products segment, the rate of price growth was 0.19%, including 0.61% for fruits and vegetables, while for other food products it remained at the level of the previous week (0.15%).
