The Ministry of Industry and Trade has prepared a new bill on the “Russian regiment”

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed a new version of amendments to the law on trade concerning the "Russian shelf". it is expected to come into force on September 1, 2025, according to a copy of the document.

"Russian shelf" is the share of domestic goods in stores that must be provided by chain retail and online trade. The first bill was developed back in 2023 by State Duma deputy Tatyana Butskaya. Her project was approved by the government , taking into account revisions.

Later, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov promised that the Ministry of Industry and Trade would develop a separate bill. But he did not specify what would be changed in it.

The parliamentary bill proposed to regulate only non-food products, and to consider local products as those manufactured in RUSSIA by Russians and citizens of Belarus. The share of local products on the shelf should have been up to 50%. Online stores and marketplaces should have shown the first 50 cards of Russian products in search results.
