The Ministers of Agriculture of Brazil, RUSSIA, India, CHINA and South Africa (BRICS) have adopted an action plan for 2021-24 on agricultural cooperation among the countries of the group, according to the Indian Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

"Action Plan for 2021-24 on agricultural cooperation of the BRICS countries was adopted at the ministerial meeting. The Action Plan for 2021-2024 provides for the expansion of cooperation in the field of agriculture between the BRICS countries and focuses on the topics of food security, welfare of farmers, conservation of agro-biodiversity , the sustainability of food and agricultural production systems, the promotion of digital agricultural solutions and so on, which are an integral part of the sustainable development of agriculture," the ministry said.

During the meeting, the ministers also "launched the BRICS Agricultural Research Platform, prepared and established in India to strengthen cooperation in agricultural research and innovation among the BRICS member states."

The agency also recalled that the BRICS unites the largest emerging economies in the world, which are home to 41% of the world's population, they account for 24% of world GDP and more than 16% of the share in world trade.
