In addition to the cases in South Dakota, the USDA also confirmed HPAI at a commercial duck breeding facility in Fresno County, California, where 23,400 birds were affected.
The continued spread of HPAI in poultry production is a concern for the poultry industry as the virus can cause significant economic losses. Efforts are being made to contain and mitigate the spread of the virus, including reducing the population of affected flocks and strengthening biosecurity measures at poultry production facilities.
