Until the end of May, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade will develop proposals for regulating prices for raw materials from which polymer packaging is made. Its share in the cost of production reaches 30%, and over the year packaging has almost doubled in price.

The largest food producers applied to the Ministry of Agriculture on a massive scale with the problem of the growth in the cost of packaging, which during the year amounted to 70-80%. Because of this, for example, in the dairy industry, the cost of production increased by 5%.

Producers are concerned that a further increase in the cost of packaging "will entail an increase in the cost of finished products and ultimately will inevitably affect the retail prices of consumer goods."

The Ministry of Energy is studying the impact of virgin polymers on the cost of food packaging made from this material. Its share in the cost of packaging can be up to 40%, the press service of the department explained to the publication.

It is necessary to prevent an increase in the price of containers for the agro-industrial complex, including for the food and processing industries, the Ministry of Agriculture reported. The agency emphasized that it considers it important to ensure a balance of supply and demand in the field of packaging materials.

However, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the situation on the polymer packaging market will not significantly affect the cost of goods, since the estimated cost of packaging in the cost of food, according to their data, is about 5%.
