
Labeling of animals will ensure complete accounting and traceability of livestock, which is necessary to control the movement and disposal of animals, as well as for effective planning of vaccination and other anti-epizootic measures.
The deadlines for marking and registering animals are established by Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 550 of April 5, 2023:
until September 1 , 2024 - cattle ( cattle ) and pigs, as well as poultry and horses in the industrial sector;
until March 1, 2025 - horses on private farms;
until September 1, 2025 - bees and fur-bearing animals, as well as camels, deer and rabbits in the industrial sector;
until March 1, 2026 - all fish;
until September 1, 2026 - camels in private household plots, as well as birds, deer and rabbits in private farms and small livestock.
Animals are marked using special electronic tags that contain a unique identification number. Tags are attached to the animal's ear or horn. Information about marked animals is entered into the unified federal information system for recording farm animals.
Farmers who do not mark and register animals within the established time limits may be subject to administrative liability in the form of a fine.
Labeling of farm animals is an important step in the development of agriculture in the Russian Federation. it will improve the efficiency of veterinary control and ensure the safety and quality of agricultural products.
