Issues of trading through marketplaces are of concern to representatives of various industries, including the agro-industrial complex. Thus, manufacturers of MEAT products point to unscrupulous traders who sell meat without the appropriate veterinary documents, and manufacturers of veterinary drugs point to the dangerous conditions in which veterinary drugs sold in this way are transported and stored. The government may resolve these issues as early as 2024, the State Duma Committee for the Protection of Competition said in a statement.
At the moment, 11% of all products in RUSSIA are sold through marketplaces, committee representative Sergei Lisovsky noted in his message. At the same time, due to the lack of proper regulation, outright counterfeits can also be found on marketplaces - for example, according to ROSSELKHOZNADZOR , veterinary vaccines are often sold here, which are prohibited for sale in veterinary pharmacies due to danger or ineffectiveness. In addition, marketplaces often request the lowest prices from suppliers , which means that low-quality products are sent to these sites.
To resolve this issue, the government is preparing a bill that will limit the trade of certain groups of goods through marketplaces, on the one hand, and will oblige marketplaces to be responsible for goods sold on the platform, on the other hand. Thus, the marketplace will be responsible for allowing only sellers who have all the permits and certificates to trade.
The expert noted that such a measure will not lead to an increase in prices. On the contrary, the practice of applying similar laws shows that prices remain at the same level, but the quality of goods increases. First of all, the profit of marketplaces will decrease - from 200% to 50%, according to the expert.
