Maxim Uvaydov: The production of domestic veterinary drugs is growing in Russia

In order to meet the increased demand for domestic veterinary drugs, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, together with specialized associations and subordinate biofactories, is actively working to increase production volumes, the press service of the department reported.

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maxim Uvaydov, in our country there are analogues of all foreign drugs in demand on the market, including vaccines and diagnostics for animals, as well as our own unique developments. In general, the product range includes more than 1200 items. In recent years alone, 117 domestic veterinary drugs have been registered. In total, more than 100 Russian manufacturers produced over 14 billion doses of vaccines and 170 million units of pharmaceutical products in 2021.

In particular, domestic antiparasitic drugs are widely represented on the market both for prevention and treatment - for example, in the line of NVC Agrovetzashchita LLC. Also, 41 non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are currently registered. Among their manufacturers are NVC Agrovetzashchita LLC, AlexAnn LLC and other companies.

Rosselkhonadzor is carrying out state registration of Tramvet® (INN-Tramadol), produced by FSUE Moscow Endocrine Plant. It will be used in dogs and cats as an anesthetic as part of complex therapy. Registration is expected to be completed by the end of April 2022.

For anesthesia during surgery in small pets, the inhalation anesthetic "Isoflurane", registered in the Republic of Belarus, is actively used. According to the head of the Dentalvet veterinary center, Anna Spirina, there is currently no shortage of funds for general anesthesia. At the same time, the pricing policy for domestic drugs has not changed.

Antibiotics for veterinary use are also present in sufficient quantities.

There is a wide range of Russian-made vaccines for seasonal vaccination of dogs and cats. Thus, the registered vaccine "Asterion DHPPiLR" from LLC "Vetbiohim" against canine distemper, adenovirus infections, parvovirus enteritis, parainfluenza, as well as leptospirosis and rabies in dogs is presented on the market, which is a safe and highly effective means of specific prevention.

“It should be noted that a number of drugs, for which there is currently some shortage, can be replaced with analogues or domestic drugs similar in effect,” says Sergey Sereda, president of the Association of Veterinary Practitioners. – For many years, Russian enterprises have been supplying a wide range of antibiotics, insecticides, anthelmintics, as well as vaccines for cats and dogs, which are represented by at least three manufacturers and have valencies from one to seven, including rabies. Trade House Prostor has excellent complex vaccines, including the Asterion line. There is also a hexavalent vaccine "Geksakanivak" from NVPTS "Vetzverocenter".

The Apicenna LLC plant is ready to provide veterinary clinics with antibiotics, antiparasitic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as painkillers for small pets.

It should be noted that for contagious animal diseases, the Ministry of Agriculture annually purchases from domestic manufacturers and sends to the regions about 75 types of preventive vaccination and diagnostic medicines. Deliveries are based on the respective requests of the regions.

In addition, the Ministry, together with market participants, conducts operational monitoring in order to identify the most popular vaccines, re-profile the production of drugs or switch to conversion. The Irena state information system for searching for Russian veterinary drugs registered by the Rosselkhoznadzor has been implemented and is working effectively.

Also on April 20, in the first reading, the draft federal law “On Amendments to Articles 17 and 26 of the Federal Law “On the Circulation of Medicines”, submitted by Deputy Vladimir Burmatov, was adopted. The adoption of the draft law will speed up the procedures for registration of domestic drugs for animals.
