Finnish Atria fillet steak has been voted the best steak in the world at the prestigious World Steak Challenge in Dublin. Atria's Danish partner JN MEAT International competed with Finnish beef and won the world's best steak title for the third time in a row. Overall, the winner was selected from over 400 different steaks and 23 participating countries.
The best steak in the world is grass-fed Ayrshire beef from the Hautakorpi animal farm in Karvija, located in Western Finland. “The victory came as a surprise to us, and as Finnish farmers we should be proud of this victory. The World Championship is always the World Championship,” comments Esko Houtakorpi, owner of the farm.
A total of 23 countries took part in the competition. The winner was chosen from over 400 different steaks. The jury rated the taste of the winning steak as very bright and tender. Yannis Grammenos, chairman of the 50-member jury, rated the Finnish beef tenderloin steak as incredibly tender, juicy and delicious.
“We are very happy and proud of this victory. Of course, the best thing about Finnish meat is its cleanliness and safety, but above all, its taste. And it was the taste that clearly distinguished the winner from other steaks in this competition," says John Sashi-Nielsen, founder and owner of JN Meat International.
“This can be considered a historic and unique achievement, as this is the third time in a row! This is a long work from the field to the table and a fruitful collaboration with JN Meat International. Special thanks go to the Hautakorpi farm in Karwia. All Finnish meat producers also deserve their share of this victory,” said Markku Hirvijärvi, DIRECTOR of Meat Business at Atria Finland.
