Genotyping, necessary for assessing the breeding value of animals, will allow breeding and genetic centers and meat producers to better analyze parameters such as growth rate, meat fat content, and disease resistance. Previously, domestic farms were forced to rely on Western companies, which created risks to Russia's food security.
The new system provides a full analysis cycle, adaptable to multiple sites where whole-genome sequencing equipment is already installed. Scientists are also exploring the possibility of modifying the meat's composition, for example, to introduce pork with specific characteristics, such as increased iron content or certain amino acids, to Russian markets.
