The plaintiff reported that in May 2021, 40 thousand pigs were seized with a total weight of 2.5 thousand tons. At that time, the company approached the regional government with a request for compensation, but was refused, citing identified veterinary violations that preceded the outbreak of African swine fever ( ASF ).
However, the COURT found only two of the four violations indicated by the plaintiff to be proven. As a result of the trial, the proceedings were discontinued, the claims were partially satisfied - the amount of damage was reduced by half, and the claim for payment of interest was rejected.
Court documents indicate that it is the veterinary department that is obliged to compensate for the damage incurred by Tsentralnoye LLC as a result of the alienation of pig livestock for disposal during the elimination of the ASF outbreak.
LLC "Central" is a large pig breeding farm, producing about 5.7 thousand tons of MEAT annually. The company's authorized capital is 51 thousand rubles, and revenue in 2022 amounted to 51 million rubles.
This court decision is an important precedent for meat producers who may face similar problems in the future. It highlights the need for greater monitoring and compliance with veterinary regulations to avoid unnecessary damage to businesses and ensure food safety for consumers.
