China and Saudi Arabia lift ban on red meat imports from South Africa

South Africa has already gained access to halal MEAT markets such as the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia. The Saudi market is valued at over $5 billion. Now South African exporters expect to obtain permission to supply poultry meat to Saudi Arabia.

CHINA also just lifted a ban on red meat imports . The resumption of supplies came ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to South Africa, where he will attend a meeting of BRICS leaders, China's foreign ministry said in a statement .

China imposed a ban on red meat from South Africa in April 2022 following an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, while Saudi Arabia imposed a ban some 21 years ago.
