
On Saturday, June 26, the death of 15 pigs was recorded on a farm with a livestock of 549 units in the Nikolsky rural settlement of the Voronezh region. On Monday, the department of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR for the Belgorod, Voronezh and Lipetsk regions confirmed that the animals died from African swine fever.
The regional portal of legal information published a decree of the Governor of the Voronezh Region Alexander Gusev on restrictive measures for ASF in the Vorobyevsky and Kalacheevsky districts.
Sanitary and veterinary posts have been established. The villages of Nikolskoye-1, Nikolskoye-2 (Vorobevsky district) and Seryakovo (Kalacheevsky district) are located in the first threatened zone. All livestock of pigs on their territory is subject to alienation.
The press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor notes that the exact route of entry of the ASF virus into the farm has not been established, but violations of the rules for keeping animals have already been identified.
The previous large-scale outbreak of ASF, which affected the activities of local MEAT processing plants, was registered in the Kalacheevsky district of the Voronezh region in early October 2020. Then 34 thousand animals were destroyed in large pig farms and 1.2 thousand pigs in private farmsteads.
