AI was involved in fattening boars at a Tyumen enterprise

TyumenThe pig farm installed innovative control feeding stations for boars. The stations have a system for identifying animals using microchips attached to their ears. Moreover, each feeding place is equipped with doors so that only one animal can have access to the food .

Using artificial intelligence , each animal's feed consumption data is recorded and transferred to a computer. The system also tracks the number of visits to the feeder and the time spent at the station.

“Using control feeding stations, we assess the genetic potential of the Durk paternal line. The equipment allows you to obtain reliable and timely information about the efficiency of fattening and the average daily weight gain of individual herd individuals. This information helps to select the best Durks based on the totality of indicators for selection and breeding, working proactively,” said Sergei Tkachenko, Deputy Director for Production of the Tyumen Pig Farm.

As part of the pilot project, 10 control feeding stations were installed at the enterprise. This will make it possible to assess the genetic potential of 858 Durks per year while keeping 150 animals at a time.
