15 companies have been banned from exporting meat from Argentina due to non-payment of taxes

15 Argentine meat producers have been banned from exporting their products after officials discovered that large quantities of meat for sale were not officially registered. In particular, we are talking about at least 40 tons of shipments from one of the world's most famous beef producers.

A statement from the country's Ministry of Agriculture mentions several illegal meat exports that undermined the principles of competition and were carried out without paying taxes.

The report does not list the names of the companies accused of illegal activities or the export destinations. The Argentine prosecutor's office will begin preparing formal complaints soon, once the checks are completed, the ministry said in a statement.

The country is included in the list of the world's top exporters of beef and is one of the main suppliers to the Chinese market. Argentina exported more than 850,000 tons of beef to China last year, accounting for nearly 75% of its total exports. These figures are similar to those reported in 2019, when Argentina sent more than 70% of its beef exports to the Chinese market. The total volume of cattle meat exported from the country to China in 2019 amounted to 870 thousand tons.
