Inflation in Russia from May 7 to 13 exceeded 7.9% in annual terms.

Due to the holidays, price dynamics were measured once every 10 days in late April and early May, and again every 4 days instead of the traditional 7 days.

The acceleration of inflation from May 7 to 13 was largely caused by a significant increase in prices for domestic passenger cars over the week – by 2.8%.

Since the beginning of the month, price growth in the Russian Federation as of May 13 was 0.27%, since the beginning of the year - 2.65%.

Data from late April and early May of this year and last year show that annual inflation in the Russian Federation as of May 13 accelerated to 7.92% from 7.81% on May 6 (at the end of March it was 7.72%), if calculated from weekly dynamics (the Central Bank adheres to this methodology).

Rosstat will publish precise data on annual inflation as of the end of April on May 17 in its monthly inflation report for April.

The Ministry of Economic Development estimated annual inflation in the Russian Federation as of May 13 at 7.91% (up from 7.81% on May 6). The figures are cited in the ministry's review "On the Current Price Situation." The ministry calculates annual inflation using a different methodology than the Central Bank, based on average daily data for the entire month of May 2023.
