Indonesia exports 1,500 tons of live chicken to Singapore this year

This will be the first shipment of live chicken from Indonesia to neighboring Singapore.

Japfa shipped 41.5 tons or 23,000 chickens on its first shipment after meeting stringent Singapore government requirements. “This first batch of live chickens is a milestone for the domestic poultry industry,” said Harvanto, DIRECTOR of Japfa.

Indonesia began exporting frozen poultry products to Singapore in the middle of last year after Malaysia, which supplies a third of Singapore's chicken, stopped exports in early 2022 due to a global feed shortage that disrupted local production and prices .

Indonesia produced over 3.8 million tons of chicken products in 2022 and often has a surplus after domestic consumption, according to a statement from the Commerce Ministry.
