Despite the presence of domestic producers, a significant share of imports still makes it difficult to achieve full self-sufficiency in MEAT production, which creates risks for the country's food security. Imports are also noticeable in the field of laboratory and diagnostic equipment, where foreign supplies occupy 60-80% of the market.

Savkina emphasizes that successful import substitution is only possible with a comprehensive approach, including government support, development of science and technology, and active cooperation with the agricultural sector. Important resources for increasing domestic production are vast areas of agricultural land and the development of scientific research to improve feed efficiency and animal productivity.

The main focus should be on the production of vaccines, feed and food additives, which is critical for Russia's food security. However, work on technological development takes a long time and will require at least ten years.
