Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Rusprodsoyuz Association Dmitry Leonov believes that the import of eggs is unlikely to significantly affect the situation on the market. According to him, even with a zero duty, prices for foreign products, taking into account logistics, will be comparable to the prices of Russian producers. In addition, he noted that the dynamics of egg prices in Kazakhstan, which is considered as a potential supplier, is also growing.
“Rusprodsoyuz” believes that imports may provide a small additional supply of goods, but food security will not improve, the industry will not gain investment attractiveness, and egg prices from foreign suppliers, taking into account logistics, are unlikely to be lower than Russian prices even with a zero duty, - Leonov said.
In addition, experts note that importing eggs can lead to supply instability. This is because overseas suppliers may face various challenges such as weather conditions, animal diseases or political instability.
In this regard, experts believe that the main emphasis should be on developing our own egg production in RUSSIA. To do this, it is necessary to support domestic producers, invest in the development of the industry and create favorable conditions for doing business.
