ASF epizootic situation in Europe worsens

According to the World HEALTH Organization, 4052 outbreaks of ASF have been recorded in 14 European countries . At the same time, as stated in the message of ROSSELKHOZNADZOR , which sfera.fm got acquainted with, the veterinary department of Poland has already reported 5255 outbreaks of ASF in the territory of 13 EU countries . The discrepancy between the data indicates that data on new ASF outbreaks are not received by the competent authorities in a timely manner, and this may threaten the spread of the virus to safe areas, as local authorities and farmers will not be ready to take preventive measures.

Thus, Italy is already reporting the spread of the virus to previously ASF-free regions - 718 ASF foci in wild boars and 6 in domestic pigs are recorded here. At the same time, valuable species of pigs, which are grown in Italy on free range, were threatened - in the future, the jamon delicacy is prepared from the MEAT of these pigs. In addition, the virus has re-spread in the Czech Republic and affected the territory of Germany.

Rosselkhoznadzor also indicated that Slovakia is currently considered ASF-free country, however, the ASF virus circulates on the borders of Slovakia with Poland and Hungary. Because of this, the competent authorities doubt that the data on the epizootic situation in the country correspond to the real state of affairs.
