Export of live reindeer and antlers from Khabarovsk Krai to China: a new area of ​​cooperation

A protocol has been signed regulating the requirements for dried deer antlers intended for medicinal use. These antlers, known as velvet antlers, are a valuable raw material for Chinese medicine and the production of dietary supplements.

ROSSELKHOZNADZOR notes that the opening of this new EXPORT route will provide a significant boost to the development of reindeer herding in RUSSIA. CHINA highly values ​​reindeer, which are used to produce medicines, dietary supplements, and other products, which will help expand markets for Russian reindeer herders.

In the Khabarovsk Krai, reindeer herding is traditionally developed in the northern regions and is an important part of the indigenous peoples' culture. Reindeer herding provides local residents with MEAT, hides, and transportation, which is also supported by regional government programs.
