In accordance with the Treaty on the EAEU, a coordinated agro-industrial policy is being implemented, the purpose of which is to ensure fair competition between the subjects of the Member States, the effective implementation of the resource potential, and the creation of equal conditions for access to the common agricultural market.
There are 7 priority areas in total, each of which has certain developments. For example, an integral system of forecasting in the agro-industrial complex for the medium term has been formed, two industry agreements have been adopted aimed at unifying the requirements for the production and circulation of seeds and breeding products, work is underway to form coordinated actions in the field of EXPORT development, 6 technical regulations have been adopted, at the stage of development 2 technical regulations.
And these steps are already yielding positive results. They were announced at a briefing in the Central Communications Service by Vice Minister of Agriculture Ruslan Manataev.
“In the context of the pandemic, despite the slowdown in economic growth, in Kazakhstan, at the end of 2020, the volume of agricultural production increased by 5.6%, while the average for the EAEU countries is only 2.3%. Export of agricultural products in 2020 increased by more than 1.5 times compared to 2016 and amounted to 2.7 billion US dollars . The volume of deliveries to the member states of the Union has grown by 26% over 5 years,” the speaker emphasized.
For 5 years, Kazakhstan has increased the volume of exports of vegetables to the market of the EAEU member states by 4 times, fruits by 2 times, and dairy products by almost 2.9 times. And this is not the full potential.
Don and Belarus develop cooperation in the field of agro-industrial complex
“Currently, there are several obstacles that negatively affect the development of the agricultural sector. The main volume of these obstacles falls on the spheres of phytosanitary and veterinary and sanitary control, as well as technical regulation. As part of the upcoming work, we plan to intensify work to eliminate them, to realize the export potential of Kazakhstan, including through negotiations and conclusion of long-term contracts with large retail chains of the EAEU member states and the development of a system of wholesale distribution centers, as well as to develop cooperation in the field of scientific and innovative activities,” summed up the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture.
