
Beef exports as of May reached US $836.7 million , up 36.4% from the May 2024 cumulative total . In terms of volume, the central bank's report indicates a 17.9% increase from the same period last year.
BCP suggests that this result was largely due to increased exports to the United States, Israel, Taiwan and CANADA, but offset by reduced shipments to RUSSIA and Brazil. Chile remains the main destination for Paraguayan beef, with a share of 32.8% of total exports valued at US$274.5 million and a volume of 45,800 tonnes.
Taiwan, the second largest destination, recorded imports of US$111.3 million, up 97.5% in value and 51.8% in volume.
The United States is a strong third with shipments worth US$106.3 million and a volume of 18,600 tonnes. BCP points out that as of May last year, Paraguayan beef had reached 49 countries.

Regarding the implicit price of beef , the central bank notes that there was an average increase of 15.7% in May compared to the same period in 2024. The largest increases were seen in the United States (31.6%) and Taiwan (30.2%).
Similarly, it mentions that as of May, Brazil was the market that paid the most for Paraguayan MEAT with an average price of US$6,411 per tonne, followed by Israel with US$6,241 per tonne, then Chile with US$5,987, Taiwan with US$5,895, the United States and Canada with US$5,713 and US$5,713 per tonne respectively.
