The Brazilian Association of Animal Protein Producers (ABPA) notes that the decline in exports in March 2024 was predictable and explained by the atypical behavior of the market in March 2023. Last year, a record EXPORT barrier of 500 thousand tons was overcome, which created a distorted impression of current figures. However, the average volume of chicken MEAT exports still remains above 400 thousand tons per month.

In the ranking of the main export destinations of chicken meat in March, the United Arab Emirates leads with a volume of 40.7 thousand tons, which is 16.2% more than in 2023. They are followed by CHINA with 38.9 thousand tons (-48.9%) and Saudi Arabia with 35 thousand tons (+3.9%). Among the main exporting countries, Paraná was the most active region, shipping 172.3 thousand tons of chicken meat in March.

Overall, based on the results of the first quarter of 2024, chicken exports from Brazil decreased by 7.2% compared to the accumulated balance for the same period last year. Export volume was 1.220 million tons and revenue decreased by 16.77% to US $2.141 billion .

Despite the decline, Brazil remains one of the world's largest producers and exporters of chicken meat. Stable export volumes and high demand from partner countries indicate the importance of this industry for the Brazilian economy.
