In 2022, the Russian poultry industry showed an increase in production by 300 thousand tons, even taking into account the unfavorable global situation, Sergey Sushkov, HEAD of the government of the Chelyabinsk region, said. According to the government, the difficulties turned out to be a kind of "push" for the development of poultry farming in RUSSIA - poultry farmers had to deal with some systemic problems, for example, with import substitution of genetic material.

Import substitution will remain a development trend in 2023, according to experts from the National Union of Poultry Breeders (NSP). In 2022, the import of hatching eggs significantly decreased, and the largest representatives of the industry provided themselves with parent flocks (second-order reproducers) by 100%. Import substitution in this area will continue, the construction of first-order breeding reproducers will continue.

In addition, the development of the industry was affected by an increase in the production of chicken and pork. Experts note that if the increase in poultry and pork production continues, this will put pressure on the market and prices will decline. To avoid this, the NSP believes, it is necessary to look for new ways of marketing. For example, data show that 50% of all social transfers are now spent on food. According to experts, poultry MEAT can be included in the basket of targeted food assistance.
