Experts of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and investigators understand the causes of a large-scale fire at the Altai Broiler enterprise

In Biysk, the consequences of a powerful fire that occurred on July 3 in the industrial zone on Lesnaya Street are being eliminated. The fire engulfed the industrial building. Later it became known that the workshop of the Altai Broiler enterprise (part of the Cherkizovo group) was located there. As a result, the building burned out completely, but workers, poultry and equipment were taken out of there. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined by experts. Regional experts and investigators are working on the spot - it is already known that the damage can amount to tens of millions of rubles.

As clarified in the regional HEAD office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the message about the incident was received at the control panel of the duty officer late, therefore, at the time of the arrival of the first fire and rescue unit, the roof of the workshop (metal on a wooden crate) was already burning with open fire - it had partially collapsed. Nevertheless, firefighters managed to quickly evacuate equipment from the building. There were no injuries in the emergency, people left the building on their own.

For uninterrupted water supply, main lines from water sources were laid. Significant forces and means of the fire and rescue garrison worked at the scene of the incident. According to updated information, 49 people, 20 pieces of equipment were involved in the work, of which 34 people and 14 pieces of equipment were from the Russian Emergencies Ministry (including nine tank trucks and two ladder trucks). In conditions of heavy smoke, five links of the gas and smoke protection service worked.

Meanwhile, the press service of the Cherkizovo group said that a fire broke out in the compressor shop on the territory of the Altai Broiler enterprise, where construction work was carried out by a subcontractor. Fire crews arrived at the scene 15 minutes later and put out the fire. According to the company, “due to the sanitary day, there were a small number of people at the enterprise at the time the fire started, and all personnel were evacuated.” Cherkizovo also added that there were no casualties and injuries among the staff, and the bird grown in the Altai Broiler was not affected.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is not yet ready to name the reasons for the incident. As the rescuers explained, for this it is necessary to conduct serious examinations and investigations, which are already being done by specialists from the fire laboratory from Barnaul and investigators.

Recall that the Cherkizovo group, after discussions, acquired the Altai Broiler in 2018. The group noted that the inclusion of "such a large regional producer" in it will help expand the company's activities and allow it to enter the Siberian market. In addition, this “will bring one of the strongest and most well-known brands of the Trans-Urals to the company's portfolio, strengthen its position in the poultry MEAT market and increase its share among Russian producers of this product to 12%.

Even then, the group began to update the equipment at the Altai Broiler. The company later spoke about the modernization carried out at the production facility, the first stage of which was completed in August 2019. It included re-equipment of the cutting system, reconstruction of the biosecurity system and improvement of warehouse logistics. The total investment in the technical renovation of the Altai Broiler exceeded 240 million rubles.
