According to the survey, 78% of Russian citizens eat breakfast every day or with rare exceptions, and for 45% this is the key to normal well-being during the day. People skip breakfast most often due to lack of appetite or haste, and mostly young Russians complain about the latter - more than a third of respondents under thirty years old do not have enough time for breakfast. Interestingly, this parameter did not depend on the type of activity of the respondents: for example, Russians working remotely did not have enough time for breakfast as often as those who work in the office.

The survey showed that Russians' breakfast most often consists of scrambled eggs, sandwiches with cheese or sausage, and milk porridge. These dishes were included in their standard diet by 42, 37 and 31% of respondents, respectively. In the middle of the list are lighter and simpler products: fruits , yoghurts andcottage cheese , as well as baked goods and sweets. Contrary to fashion trends, Western food names such as granola or scramble ended up at the very bottom of the list.

At the same time, the survey authors note that it is difficult to formulate the real traditions of “Russian breakfast” without in-depth research - for example, many Russians, especially men , indicated that they eat borscht, chicken soup, sausages with pasta and other hearty dishes for breakfast.

Also, according to the survey, milk is at the top of the list of essential breakfast products - on the 6th line of the rating, but primarily as an ingredient in dishes. Russians see porridge made with milk: only 10% can cook it with water. Every fifth person includes breakfast cereals with milk in their diet (17%), and among morning drinks, coffee with its addition overtook black coffee in popularity and took second place after simple tea.

Let us recall that the dairy products brand EkoNiva, together with the Gastronomic Map of Russia, launched the Russian Breakfast project in May 2023. The goal of the project is to unite on its platform everyone who cares about the fate of the culinary traditions of our country, and to revive the culture of Russian breakfasts.
