Bird flu confirmed at poultry farm in France

The French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty believes the virus was brought to the farm by wild birds, as it had previously circulated among seagulls in nearby coastal areas.

Last year, France launched a mass vaccination campaign for domestic ducks, which authorities believe has limited the spread of bird flu compared to previous years.

The outbreak detected on Monday in Brittany means France is losing its international status as a bird flu-free country, but authorities are maintaining a minimum level of national alert, the Ministry of Agriculture noted.
