In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation, the next agricultural census must be carried out no later than 2026. The All-Russian Population Census (RPC) is carried out once every 10 years, while between all-Russian population censuses, once every five years after the last VPC, a sample federal statistical observation is carried out in relation to a part of the persons subject to the population census, based on a sample of at least 5% of the Russian population Federation (micro-census of population).

Due to the spread of coronavirus infection, the 2020 VPN was postponed to 2021.

Accordingly, the micro-census of the population must be carried out before November 14, 2026. Conducting a micro-census of the population in 2026 will require a postponement of the agricultural census from 2026 to 2027, since the centralized organization at the territorial, district and field levels in one year of two significant statistical activities involves difficulties in using a single software and hardware complex, attracting people to carry out work related to the census, and also involves almost simultaneous processing of huge amounts of data received.
