According to data presented in an infographic by the Federal Information Center for Agriculture (BZL), the number of antibiotics dispensed for veterinary medicine in Germany has fallen by about two-thirds in ten years. With slight differences, this applies both to antibiotics in general (-65%) and to the so-called critically important antibiotics (-67%), to which the World HEALTH Organization (WHO) attaches particular importance to human treatment.

The number of antibiotics in 2021 decreased by 14% compared to the previous year. Critical antibiotics have been cut by nearly one-fifth over the same period.
