On the Russian Railways website and in the Russian Railways Passengers mobile application, the Food Delivery to the Train project has been implemented, which allows passengers on long-distance trains to order food to the train, Rosselkhozbank reports. Now, with the support of the Russian Agricultural Bank, the functionality of the program has been expanded and includes the delivery of farm products, the report says. You can order it on routes that follow through the Chelyabinsk-Glavny station.
As explained in the Russian Agricultural Bank, passengers can order the products of any farmer registered on the Svoi Rodnoe Rosselkhozbank platform, and they will be delivered directly to the train. In this case, the products should not be perishable, and the parking should be at least 10 minutes. The bank also noted that so far the project is being implemented in only one direction, but in the future it can be scaled to the whole country.
Bank representatives are sure that such a project will benefit small and medium-sized businesses in the agro-industrial complex. If for passengers this is primarily an opportunity to diversify the choice of food on the way, then farmers can introduce passengers from all over the country to their products, expand their customer base and build Russian loyalty to local farm products.
