The only enterprise in the Orenburg region - a producer of turkey MEAT, the Vostochnaya-Agro poultry farm in the city of Novotroitsk, is put up for sale. The owners are ready to sell the controlling stake in the legal entity for 750 million rubles. The option of a complete exit from the business is also being considered, in which case the cost of the shares will be about 1.1-1.2 billion rubles.
The nominal owner of the poultry farm is Andrey Farafontov. However, the actual control over the asset is carried out by the Agro-industrial holding "Rus", owned by the former chairman of the Budget Committee of the Legislative Assembly and the former owner of the Mortgage Commercial Bank "Rus" Vladimir Kidanov. After selling his stake in the bank to the government of the Orenburg region in 2017, Kidanov has been actively investing in agriculture. Among its assets are the Orenburg feed mill and the second largest poultry production in the region - PF Vostochnaya-Agro.
Now, as it became known from AiF in Orenburg's own sources, the ex-deputy plans to sell the factory and leave the poultry business. The preservation of a share in the Feed Mill is also questionable. In fact, the agricultural holding needed this plant as a source of high-value poultry feed. Moreover, the plans included the purchase of the Ural Broiler poultry farm in order to fully load the enterprise's capacities.
However, the buyer of the Ural Broiler in 2020 was the Stavropol holding Resurs of businessmen - the Nauruzov brothers. They refused to supply feed from Orenburg.
One of the possible buyers of Vostochnaya-Agro is the Ural Poultry Complex (Meleuz, Bashkortostan), which is widely represented in Orenburg by the Indyushkin network.
However, it should be noted that now is not an easy time to invest in turkey production. One of the key problems is the supply of hatchery eggs, which were previously imported to Vostochnaya-Agro almost entirely from Europe. Replacement with Russian crosses is possible, but this will require a restructuring of supply chains, plus there are still few Russian eggs on the market, and larger poultry farms are dismantling them.
