Dankvert urged to fight the “shuttle” import of sanctioned cheeses and sausages into Russia

The head of the Rosselkhoznadzor , Sergei Dankvert, urged to fight the “shuttle” import of sanctioned cheeses and sausages into the Russian Federation.

“Italian cheeses and sausages have started to be shipped by shuttle, and our colleagues already need to deal with this, because it is in stores, because it is very simple from the point of view of verification,” he said.

Dankvert specified that the problem of importing sanctioned products has been practically resolved with Belarus, it remains to be resolved with Kazakhstan.

Russia in August 2014 banned the import of certain types of agricultural products, raw materials and food from countries that have imposed anti-Russian sanctions - including the United States , EU states, Canada, Australia and Norway. The ban includes meat, sausages, fish and seafood, vegetables, fruits, and dairy products. As sanctions persist, the Russian Federation has also extended its retaliatory measures, while the supply ban is in effect until the end of 2021.

In addition, Dakvert said that in 2021, when checking products in budgetary organizations, less counterfeit was detected than in 2020. “We selectively, on behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister, carried out checks. This year we have less than last year year," he said.

“Last year, on average, we got more than 25% of products that were falsified for school, preschool, budgetary organizations - these are both hospitals and the Federal Penitentiary Service. A high percentage, but it can be regulated,” he explained.
