The producer price indices for agricultural products have changed.

In the Oryol region, the producer price index for agricultural products sold by agricultural organizations in May 2024 was 100.3 percent compared to the previous month, including 100.1 percent in crop production and 100.5 percent in livestock production. These data are provided by Orelstat. Agricultural sales volumes increased significantly across a number of sectors.

For example, sugar beets are the top seller . From January to May 2024, Oryol farmers sold 146,000 tons of this product, 8.3 times higher than the same period last year. Vegetables are the second-highest seller, with sales volumes increasing 2.2-fold compared to January to May 2023. Furthermore, sales of grains and legumes increased 1.6-fold, totaling 1.086 million tons from January to May 2024.

Oryol farmers also sold 65,900 tons of sunflower seeds this year. Sunflower seed sales increased almost 1.4-fold compared to the previous year. Furthermore, shipments of Oryol potatoes increased by 7.5 percent. The situation in livestock farming is somewhat different. Since the beginning of this year, livestock and poultry production for slaughter in live weight at agricultural organizations in the Oryol region has increased by 4,900 tons, or 3.8 percent, compared to last year's level.

Meanwhile, cattle milk production volumes decreased by 2,100 tons, or 4.3 percent. However, according to Orelstat, from January to May of this year, agricultural organizations in the region produced an average of 2,829 kg of milk per cow, 120 kg more than in the same period last year. Cow productivity increased in nine districts, with livestock breeders in the Verkhovsky District achieving the highest milk yield. Egg production decreased by 1.6 million eggs, or 21.2 percent. This year, poultry farms produced an average of 93 eggs per laying hen , compared to 96 the previous year.
