Cargill and CGC intend to create a major poultry company in the US

US food company Cargill and Belgian grain processor Continental Grain Company (CGC) have reached a tentative agreement to jointly acquire the third largest poultry producer in the US , Mississippi-headquartered Sanderson Farms.
The parties estimate the deal at $4.53 billion and plan to close it in early 2022. According to analysts, it promises to be profitable given the increase in demand for broilers in the global market.
The terms of the agreement between the major players involve the merger of Sanderson Farms with CGC subsidiary Wayne Farms. This will create a large poultry business that can compete with such giants in the sector as Tyson Foods and Pilgrim's Pride.
