Participation in Gulfood turned out to be more profitable than exporters even expected.
Brazil's participation in Gulfood was initially seen as a factor that could boost food exports by $450 million over the next 12 months, but it has evolved into something much more. According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), in the poultry industry alone, the sector's expected results in 2022 are approaching $1 billion. Poultry exporting agribusinesses to secure over $1 billion in deals based on negotiations held during Gulfood 2022, as part of an action led by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) in partnership with the Brazilian EXPORT and Investment Promotion Association Agency (ApexBrasil) . Gulfood closed last Thursday (17th) in Dubai (United Arab Emirates),
In just the five days of the event, the 20 ABPA-affiliated agro-industry manufacturers and exporters who were at the show consolidated more than $ 50 million in sales to customers from the Middle East and other parts of Africa, Asia and Europe who attended the fair, the association said. in a press release.
In addition to promoting the business, the ABPA-ApexBrasil partnership also focused on positioning the image of Brazilian animal protein in two strategic areas: spreading awareness and industry attributes, and tasting Brazilian products under the brands "Brazilian Chicken", "Brazilian Egg", "Brazilian Breeders" and " Brazilian duck.
In this sense, the organization distributed promotional materials via QRCode - in compliance with covid-19 protection protocols - that highlighted data on Brazil's production profile, HEALTH status and sustainable production characteristics, in addition to the company's contacts with ABPA-related exporters.
In addition, a large gastronomic area was installed at the event. The menu included omelettes and shawarma, a typical Islamic dish made from pieces of chicken and duck MEAT (new to this year's ABPA promotion). In total, over 6,000 shawarmas and 1,000 omelettes were served at the event to over 2,800 customers, potential buyers, stakeholders and authorities who visited the poultry stand at the event.
“Among the international trade shows, Gulfood was the only one that followed the calendar without interruption due to the successful protocol implemented and followed by all exhibitors. This year there was a strong resumption of participation in the event in Dubai, as evidenced by the number of businesses and food service in our gastronomic area. These are important results at a time when manufacturers are looking to expand the international operations of the Brazilian sector in order to overcome the problems associated with high production costs,” says ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
