Brazilian egg exports are booming

Brazil exported 1,270 tons of eggs in January and February, up 150% from the same months a year ago. “Strong EXPORT growth in 2021 will resume shipments that were practiced before the pandemic. The balance of sales increases the amount of currency generated by the sector at a particularly important time for the egg sector, with high production costs,” commented Ricardo Santin. , President of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).

Eggs are also in high demand in the domestic market as consumers look to buy cheaper animal protein products. In value terms, Brazilian egg exports are $4.13 million, up 152.8% from the same period a year ago. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the main export destination for Brazilian eggs, with 2,356 tons shipped there in two months, up 209.7% from the first two months of 2020. Second place was taken by Sierra Leone, which received 103 tons in two months, although it did not import Brazilian products in 2020. Third place was taken by Japan, which imported 89.2 tons of eggs, up 103% compared to the same period last year.
