Brazil: Santa Catarina surpasses $1 billion in meat exports in the first four months of 2023

The MEAT sector, Santa Catarina's leading agribusiness EXPORT, generated $1.34 billion in revenue in the first four months of 2023 . 600,000 tons of meat ( chicken , pork , turkey, duck and teal, beef , etc.) were exported, representing an increase of 10.5% in export volume and 20.8% in revenue compared to the same period of 2022 of the year. These figures are provided by the Ministry of Economy and analyzed by the Center for Socio-Economic and Agricultural Planning (Epagri/Cepa).

Santa Catarina, the country's largest pig producer, accounted for 55.4% of meat exports this year and 56.6% of Brazil's meat export earnings. The positive results of this period are due to the growth of shipments in most major destinations, especially in CHINA , an increase of 8.8% in volume and 30.4% in value, as well as in Chile +70.1% in volume and 98.3% by cost.

In the first four months of the year, Santa Catarina exported 206,700 tons of pork with a revenue of US$504.2 million, representing increases of 13.5% and 27.8%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. China and Hong Kong accounted for 49.4% of shipments in the first four months.
