Brazil: growth in pork exports from Santa Catarina

Santa Catarina exported 491.7 thousand tons of pork during January to September, generating revenues of US $1.20 billion . This represents an increase in exports of 10.2% in volume and 15.9% in value compared to the same period in 2022. Thus, Santa Catarina maintains its leadership in Brazilian pork exports, with a share of 54.2% by volume and 56.2% by revenue of Brazilian exports in the current year.

it is interesting to note that virtually all of Santa Catarina's major pork buyers also saw an increase in shipments. Particularly strong growth was recorded in the Philippines (27.4% in volume and 37.3% in revenue), Chile (59.2% and 68.1%) and Japan (49.6% and 30.8%). However, CHINA , the main consumer of pork from Santa Catarina, reduced its purchases by 11% in volume and 5.6% in revenue. As a result, China's share of total pork purchases from Santa Catarina fell from 46.9% in January-September 2022 to 37.9% in the same period this year.

These data show the continued growth of pork exports from Santa Catarina and confirm its position as a leader in this industry in Brazil. Despite some decline in demand from China, other countries such as the Philippines, Chile and Japan are showing increasing interest in Santa Catarina products. This opens up new opportunities for EXPORT development and strengthening the state's position in the international pork market.
