Brazil to break historic meat and egg production record in 2024

In 2025, total production should remain stable at 31.56 million tonnes, with pork and poultry production growing, even as beef production is expected to decline.

Pork

Since 2022, pork production has exceeded 5 million tons, reaching 5.36 million tons in 2024 , the highest ever. Exports also broke the record at 1.32 million tons, despite lower demand from China . Countries such as Japan (+131%), Mexico (+51%) and the Philippines (+100%) increased their purchases. In 2025, production is expected to increase by 3.1% to reach 5.53 million tons.

Poultry meat

Poultry meat production ended 2024 at 15.31 million tons, thanks to exports of 5.16 million tons, despite a decline in demand in China (-18%). A new record is expected in 2025, with production reaching 15.66 million tons, and exports forecast at 5.31 million tons, which will ensure good supply of the domestic market.

Beef

As a result of the livestock cycle, beef production in 2024 reached 10.91 million tons, which is also a historical record. Exports reached 3.78 million tons, with a focus on China (46% of purchases) and a significant increase in shipments to the United States (+52%) and the United Arab Emirates (+72%). By 2025, with the beginning of the cycle reversal and a large retention of females, production should fall to 10.37 million tons, but exports should remain high, estimated at 3.86 million tons.

Egg production

In 2024, egg production was estimated at 45.8 billion eggs, up 11% from 2023. In 2025, a moderate increase of 4.8% is expected, bringing production to 48 billion eggs, a new record.

Consumption

Even with reduced beef availability in 2025, projected increases in pork and poultry consumption are expected to maintain per capita consumption above 102 kg per capita per year, cementing Brazil as the world leader in animal protein production and export.
