Brazil: Pork sector outlook remains positive for 2025

On the external front, the national pig industry must continue to focus on the external market, seeking to strengthen and/or improve its position among the largest international players.

The sector's excellent export performance in recent years is driven by its efforts to increase its presence in the global market amid a gradual reduction in Chinese imports (starting in mid-2022). Even with the decline in shipments to China , shipments to other trading partners should guarantee another year of strong export performance.

Cepea research suggests that pork sales abroad could grow by 6.6% in 2025 compared to 2024 volumes , reaching 1.22 million tons. Domestic pork demand is expected to remain robust in 2025, especially given high beef prices . The United States Department of Agriculture estimates that per capita pork consumption in Brazil will increase by 1.8% in 2025.

To ensure that both domestic and foreign demand for Brazilian protein is met sustainably through 2025, Cepea researchers estimate that pork production must reach approximately 5.53 million tons this year, 2.8% more than projected for 2024.
