Brazil: Egg exports increase 381.6% in August

The value of exports increased by 241.3% to $5.114 million in the eighth month of 2023 compared to $1.499 million in the same period last year.

Since the beginning of the year (from January to August), egg exports amounted to 21,119 thousand tons, which is 178.5% higher than in the first eight months of 2022 (7,583 thousand tons).

During the same period, accumulated revenue reached US $52.380 million , up 222% from US$16.270 million in the same period in 2022.

Japan , the main destination for egg exports from Brazil, imported 9,212 thousand tons between January and August, up 1,164% from the volume shipped during the same period the previous year. The list is completed by Taiwan with 5,387 thousand tons (no comparative figures in 2022) and Chile with 1,791 thousand tons (+1,548%).

“Egg exports generate significant income for egg sector companies that have invested heavily in participating in high value-added markets. This is the case of Japan and Taiwan, which this year have taken leading positions among the main importers in the industry,” analyzes ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
